ZubopGambia

ZubopGambia is a collaboration of London-based worldbeat music group Zubop with Gambian master musicians Njega Sohna (djembe, talking drum, vocals) and Solomelo (vocals and guitar), now joined by Fela Kuti’s niece Molara, inspirational female force and for 14 years the voice of dub pioneers Zion Train.

ZubopGambia brings together the musical interests and influences of everyone involved - the performance includes not only traditional West African pieces, but elements of jazz, township music, pop, reggae, blues and many other styles. The Observer made our CD Live at Ronnie Scott's album of the week, praising it as “irresistible, high spirited and full of fun” and fRoots magazine wrote “there’s a spark about it all which is downright infectious.”
